Practice overview
Rand Paster & Nelson has been at the forefront of California housing-law enforcement, including as one of the first firms to deploy both the Builder’s Remedy and AB 2011 for housing projects in the Coastal Zone. RPN combines early, technically rigorous application strategy with a readiness to enforce state-law protections when local agencies unlawfully deny, delay, downsize, or impose infeasible conditions on qualifying projects. The firm assists clients in using laws such as the Housing Accountability Act (HAA), including the Builder’s Remedy, the Housing Crisis Act (SB 330), and the Permit Streamlining Act through administrative advocacy and, when necessary, litigation. RPN also defends HAA- and Builder’s Remedy-based projects against municipal, neighborhood, and third-party challenges.
